Mobile App Development (Android & iOS) - 6-Week Hands-On Learning & Practical Exposure
This internship aims to equip participants with end-to-end mobile app development skills across Android and iOS platforms using Flutter, React Native, or Kotlin. The tasks are designed to build knowledge progressively from setup, UI development, API integration, authentication, database handling, to deployment. By the end, students will have developed and deployed a fully functional mobile application.
Program Highlights
Week 1: Foundations & Environment Setup
1. Introduction to Mobile App Development
· Research mobile platforms, technologies, and frameworks (Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native, Kotlin).
· Understand real-world use cases for each technology.
2. Setting Up Development Environment
· Install and configure Android Studio, Xcode, Flutter SDK, and React Native CLI.
· Verify tool setup by running a sample app on an emulator or device.
Week 2: UI Development & Navigation
3. Building a Simple UI with Flutter/React Native/Kotlin
· Create a basic app with a home screen, navigation bar, and simple form.
· Ensure responsive design and intuitive navigation flow.
4. State Management in Mobile Apps
· Implement state management with Provider (Flutter) or Redux (React Native).
· Handle user inputs and reflect real-time UI updates.
Week 3: API Integration & Authentication
5. Working with APIs in Mobile Apps
· Fetch and display external data using a REST API (e.g., OpenWeather API).
· Display dynamic content based on API response.
6. Authentication & User Management
· Integrate Firebase Authentication (Google Sign-In, Email/Password).
· Create login and signup workflows with authentication validation.
Week 4: Notifications, Database & Media
7. Push Notifications in Mobile Apps
· Set up Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
· Send and receive push notifications in the app.
8. Database Integration
· Connect to Firebase Firestore or SQLite.
· Store and retrieve user data with real-time updates.
9. Camera & Media Handling
· Access device camera and gallery.
· Implement image capture and upload features.
Week 5: Advanced Features & UI Enhancements
- Background Tasks & Local Storage
· Save user preferences locally using SharedPreferences (Android) or AsyncStorage (React Native).
· Implement background tasks like data caching.
- Location-Based Services & Maps Integration
· Use Google Maps API to show user’s location.
· Integrate geolocation features for real-time positioning.
- Animations & UI Enhancements
· Add animations, transitions, and UI effects.
· Improve app visual appeal and user experience.
Week 6: App Deployment & Final Project
- Deployment & Publishing Apps
· Prepare app for release (build, sign, optimize).
· Publish app on Google Play Store / Apple App Store (demo release if real store access is unavailable).
- Final Mobile App Project
· Develop a complete app (e.g., To-Do List, E-commerce, Social Media).
· Ensure functionality, user-friendliness, and performance readiness for deployment.
